Leading Colleagues
David believes it is important to help ensure that those within the profession of law treat it as such -- a profession. Toward this goal, David volunteered for years as an advisor to the Legal Assistants' program at Grayson County Community College, which program trained and graduated assistants to the legal profession.
David has also been called on by others to lead and instruct attorneys. In this regard, David has served as Program Moderator for the National College of Advocacy's Nursing Home Litigation Program in February 2002. David was selected by the State Bar of Texas to author a paper on Litigating a Nursing Home Case, and to speak to fellow State Bar members at three sites around the state in the Summer of 2002, for the Bar's Advanced Personal Injury Law Course. He was an invited speaker before the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association on the topic of Prosecuting A Pressure Sore Case, and on invitation he spoke at professional seminars sponsored by the State Bar of Texas, the Professional Education Systems Institute (PESI), and the National College of Advocacy. Upon request, David has reviewed for the National Board of Trial Advocates (NBTA) the writings submitted by attorneys worldwide who desire to be tested and certified by the NBTA. Additionally, examinees seeking certification in civil trial law at a future examination of the NBTA will need to correctly answer an essay question on medical malpractice -- which could be the test question authored by David at the request of the NBTA. Further, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) has requested that David review and approve manuscripts of articles submitted for publication.
